ABOUT SLEEPGIFT

SLEEPGIFT IS A LIFESTYLE AND WELLNESS STARTUP THAT’S CREATED A LINE OF BLANKETS TO PROTECT ITS USERS FROM RADIATION EMITTED BY EVERYDAY WIRELESS DEVICES

During my summer internship, I assisted in conducting market research to determine ways in which the visual identity of SleepGift could be adapted to appeal to the target market. After designing a new brand identity, I then updated SleepGift’s digital and print content to ensure all platforms seamlessly aligned with the brand we created.

BRAND ASSETS

First we designed the brand assets, after creating a new logo and logomark, I then curated appropriate colours and fonts that align with the brand personality. We wanted the new logo to be friendly, playful and calming so we developed one with soft round edges and a hidden smile which can be used on its own as a logomark. For the new typography we chose different variations of Quicksand due its accessibility and its soft edges which match the logo. Finally, for the brand colours we created a simple pallet that features cool tones that are associated with rest and relaxation.

SOCIAL MEDIA

In collaboration with Britni Gjyzeli, the marketing intern, we built social media templates on Canva so that team members can easily create posts. Through working with Britni, I got to learn about designing for different platforms and how to adapt a set of content to work with different algorithms. While working together, we curated images and videos to plan out content for a month worth of posts on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram. I learnt about social media marketing strategies such as giveaways and reaching out to influencers.

THE SHOPIFY WEBSITE

The biggest design task I took on during my internship was re-designing the Shopify website. Working from the existing flow, I built a new layout using the assets I’d created over the summer. I wanted the website to feel unique despite Shopify's design limitations. My solution to this challenge was creating custom assets and graphics that when on the site, work with one another, giving the site a more custom feel. Through working on the site I also got to learn about SEO and how to optimize graphics for the web.
